We bought the Cats Meow cat toy when we began fostering kittens. We assumed that it would be the perfect toy for our adorable, yet super energetic kittens we brought into our home…and we assumed right.
Whether we were busy doing work around the house or out-of-the-house for several hours, we could always turn the Cats Meow on and it immediately grabbed all of the kittens’ attentions. If you followed our story about Speedo – our kitten born with Swimmers syndrome – you may know that this was used daily for his ‘physical therapy’ as he ran around and played with it for hours, providing him with much-needed exercise.
The Cats Meow is simply a large yellow nylon circular sheet with a motorized, plastic peek-a-boo wand that rotates in a circle so that it mimics a scurrying mouse. There are four speed setting; ‘slow,’ ‘medium,’ ‘fast’ and even ‘random’ to change both speed and directions, helping to constantly keep your cats entertained.
There are many things we love about this cat toy. First of all, it is extremely affordable for all cat lovers. By clicking here or the link above, you can purchase it on Amazon for less than $15.00! And if you have prime, you can get it via the links with free two-day shipping as well! It is extremely light-weight, weighing just 13.4 ounces. It is also small and easily stored away when not in use. It’s dimensions are 8.1 x 3.5 x 8.1 inches. Additionally, unlike some of the other models, the ‘mouse’ wand not only moves under the nylon sheet, but also pokes out just a little with what looks like a mouse tail, really driving your cats crazy with hours of activity and entertainment. The battery life seems to last really well too, with us being able to leave it on for 2-4 hours several different times before needing to change batteries. We actually had to buy this toy twice, because when we brought it to my parents’ house, their cat liked it so much that we couldn’t get him away from it!
The only downsides about the Cats Meow that we observed is that the ‘mouse’ wand is plastic, which could potentially break if you are not careful when storing it. Additionally, it requires 3 C batteries. However, be careful when storing this toy and purchasing C batteries in bulk (option for DURACELL C12 PROCELL Professional Alkaline Battery, 12 Count for under $12.00 and prime eligible) can help lessen the burden of these downsides.
Overall, we love the Cats Meow and likely will always own one. We suggest all cat owners to at least try the toy out with their furry companions. Whether it is our own adult cat or one of our adorable, tiny foster kittens, we know that they will all love playing with this toy for hours-on-end, which will provide them with some much needed exercise and time for play and fun!
